WAIKIKI (KHON2) — Spirits were high in Waikiki on Wednesday, Dec. 17, for Honolulu’s public menorah lighting — a tradition meant to symbolize how light triumphs over darkness.
Security was tight after a terrorist attack on Bondi Beach in Australia on Sunday, Dec. 14.

There was an energetic atmosphere in Waikiki on the fourth night of Hanukkah. Local residents marked the holiday with song, dance and celebration.
“I’m here to share with the rest of the world, the light of the Jew. Because we want to show to the people that we are here, not only for us, but also for you,” said Island Princess owner Patrick Haddad. “God loves everybody, Jew and non-Jew, and he chose us…not really, we choose him because we are not the best people in the world, we are probably the worst, and God wants the world to know, ‘If those people can do it, you can do it.’”…
