Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan gives farewell address

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan delivered her farewell address on Thursday at Kiernan Plaza. Family and coworkers gathered to reminisce about their time with the city’s 75th mayor.

Sheehan expressed her thanks to everyone she’s worked with during her tenure.

“I am proud of all that we have accomplished together, and we are ready for our next chapter. One that will bring more change, unprecedented investments, and the opportunity to take Albany to a whole new level,” she said.

Sheehan first won the seat in 2013 after serving as city treasurer for three years. She became the first female mayor in Albany’s history. She will be succeeded by Mayor-elect Dorcey Applyrs, who will be the city’s first Black mayor…
