Firefighters contain late-night chimney fire that displaces 3 from Asheville home

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A late-night chimney fire at a home off Gashes Creek Road on Dec. 17 was contained and extinguished quickly by firefighters.

The Asheville Fire Department told News 13 that firefighters responded to the scene at 10:18 p.m. on Dec. 17 and described it as a “working chimney fire.”

“The initial size-up found a small single-story home with light haze showing,” John Harbin, the Asheville Fire Department communication specialist, said. “As firefighters continued their investigation, they found more smoke showing from the roof, and it was determined to be a working chimney fire.”…
