CSRA mourns beloved canine who overcame house fire injuries to serve others

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Saying goodbye to our furry companions is always a tough experience. Taka, a therapy dog who helped burn victims after surviving severe injuries in a house fire, has died.

According to a statement shared on the Taka Journey Facebook page on Thursday, Taka fell seriously ill.

“Two days ago, we had to make the agonizing decision to let Taka go. He was very sick and just wasn’t getting any better. It was my goal since Oct 23, 2018, when he entered my life, to never allow him hurt another minute,” the statement read. “He was weak, and for the first time, I could see it in his eyes. They told me everything I needed to know. He was tired.”
