AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Alexia Layton was announced as the student speaker for the Amarillo College fall commencement tomorrow. Her story is one of perseverance and hope, with her journey beginning after she dropped out of high school.
Layton became a mother at 19 and left high school to focus on being a mother. She did not stay out of the classroom for long with her entering back in to get her GED with the help of Amarillo College.
