Austin Mourns Young Driver’s Death in 88th Fatal Crash of the Year on North Mopac Expressway

Tragedy struck on the morning of December 16, when a rear-end collision claimed the life of a young driver on North Mopac Expressway. The Austin Police Department responded to the incident at 9:07 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the 8100 block, according to a press release from the City of Austin. The collision involved two vehicles with one driver, Jonhatan Rodriguez, a Hispanic male born on May 19, 2006, pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives specializing in vehicular homicide were dispatched to investigate and gather testimony from those who witnessed the accident. The preliminary investigation suggests that the collision, involving a rear-end impact between the two southbound vehicles, could be the cause of the fatal injury sustained by Rodriguez.
