Bossier Parish has one death row inmate. The victim’s family wants the death sentence revoked.

Of the 14 death row inmates at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola who were convicted in Caddo-Bossier, just one, Jeremiah Manning, is from the east side of the Red River.

There is another aspect to Manning’s case that sets it apart from the other 13. The son of the victim has expressed publicly his desire the man’s death sentence be revoked in favor of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Manning, 20 at the time of the crime, was convicted of the death of Mary Malone, 62, on May 6, 2002, after less than three hours of jury deliberation. One week later, he was sentenced to death. The Louisiana Supreme Court affirmed the conviction and sentence in 2004…
