Open-flame heater under hood causes vehicle fire on Madison’s east side

MADISON, Wis. — An open-flame heater placed under a vehicle’s hood caused a fire that resulted in a total loss Thursday night, according to the Madison Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to the 4700 block of Femrite Drive shortly after 9:30 p.m. for a vehicle fire. Reports indicated that the fire was close to entering a building, and a person attempted to extinguish it with a fire extinguisher.
