Candlelighters helps families facing childhood cancer during holidays

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern Arizona is working to provide holiday support for families dealing with childhood cancer, fulfilling about 200 gift wishes for children with cancer and sickle cell disease along with gifts for their siblings.

The foundation’s efforts come as families like the Trandems celebrate the holidays with their 4-year-old son Grey outside the hospital. Grey was diagnosed with leukemia at age 2 and is scheduled to finish treatment in April.

“It was that first year that was super duper hard on our family. He is finally coming out of his shell. He’s not scared when we go to the hospital anymore, he sometimes actually asks to go which is kind of weird,” said Jade Trandem, Grey’s mother.
