Large Hanukkah celebration takes place in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A large Hanukkah gathering took place in Virginia Beach Thursday night.

Organizers say it was important to continue celebrating their faith, especially following the terrorist attack that killed more than a dozen people at a Hanukkah celebration in Australia on Sunday.

Rabbi Meir Lessoff said there are two main takeaways they want to come from the evening in Virginia Beach.

“We’re here to spread light and kindness around us, and by simply bringing light into a room, darkness disappears,” Lessoff said. “And the second message is that we are proud and strong and we are going to stand together.”…
