S.C. agency fights to boost child-care access, foster care

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) — The South Carolina Department of Social Services is requesting state funding to improve child-care access, foster care placements and health services for lower-income residents as part of next year’s budget process.

Child welfare remains a top priority for the agency, according to Connelly-Anne Ragley with the Department of Social Services.

Cases of measles in the U.S. are on the rise, with North Carolina confirming its first recent case from a person traveling in the Raleigh-Durham Airport.

“A lot of it is based on services to be provided, as well as supporting our providers and partners because as we know, costs have gone up across the board, whether it’s inflation or just the rising costs of food, utilities,” Ragley said…
