KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Christmas morning is a week away and bells are ringing across East Tennessee as the Salvation Army races to meet its Red Kettle Campaign fundraising goals.
“We believe sincerely that God sees our great need. Whether it’s me and my need or somebody else in there need, God sees it and he sends help. And that’s why he sends the community to help buy Christmas gifts, to ring the bells, to raise money, to help others,” said Maj. Cam Henderson.
But donations are down and there’s a shortage of volunteers, which is why the Salvation Army needs more people like Melanie Campbell.
