A Tavares man was arrested after being stopped for excessive speeding with open bottles of lager beside him.
Officers spotted 20-year-old Parker Joseph Robinson in a dark vehicle speeding southbound on State Road 25 at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. Radar confirmed it was going 97 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone.
As the vehicle passed law enforcement, it was in the middle of a three-lane highway. It changed lanes several times before stopping for a traffic signal on Citrus Boulevard and Picciola Road. Once it turned green, the officers initiated a traffic stop to protect several other vehicles on the roadway, the report said.
They then asked Robinson for his driver’s license, seeing his eyes were bloodshot as he handed it over. When asked if he had been drinking, he stated he would prefer not to answer. More officers arrived on scene at that point and asked him to step out of the vehicle for further investigation, the report said…
