Ojai’s incoming police chief is not new to the city.
Capt. Tyler Abbott, set to take over the position on Jan. 18, has worked in Ojai for a number of years in the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. He said he was a deputy in Ojai from 2006 to 2009 and later served as a patrol sergeant in 2021 for a year.
“It’s just great scenery, great people, I just can’t say enough about it,” Abbott, 46, said on Dec. 16. “To be honest, I’m very, very thrilled to go back.”…
