(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said on Friday, Dec. 19, K9 Riggs assisted in the arrest of an individual with an active felony arrest warrant south of downtown.
According to CSPD, on Friday at around 11 a.m., Officer Mueller with the Downtown Area Response Team saw 36-year-old Angel Pena Lopez walking in the area of the 1500 block of South Nevada Avenue south of I-25. Officer Mueller was aware that Lopez allegedly had an active felony arrest warrant issued by the State of Colorado Parole Division and that he was being investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service Southern Colorado Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force.
The task force had advised police that Lopez had an alleged history of violence, was known to run from police on contact, and was considered armed and dangerous.
