SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – A retirement party today for a man who has spent nearly 40 years working to keep the community safe.
Jeff Kaufman started working as an EMT in his hometown of Freeman, South Dakota, before coming to Sioux Falls 24 years ago to work with rural metro ambulance. He tells us one of the more gratifying parts of the job is the bond he is able to develop with the people he serves.
“You can go to a nursing home, pick up an elder lady that’s not feeling well and by the time you get to the hospital you know how many children she had, grandchildren she had, how many great grandchildren and they’re smiling when you get to the emergency room because you made their day.” said Kaufman…
