Buffalo, NY – Drivers across western and northern New York should prepare for hazardous winter travel conditions beginning later this morning, as Winter Weather Advisories take effect across multiple counties due to lake-effect snow, strong winds, and rapidly falling temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, lake-effect snow bands will develop today as rain transitions to snow and colder air pours into the region. In Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and southern Erie counties, snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are possible from 10 a.m. Friday through 1 a.m. Saturday, with wind gusts up to 45 mph producing areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility…
