South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced a formal investigation into Roblox Corporation, issuing a Civil Investigative Demand (CID) to determine if the popular gaming platform is violating state consumer protection laws. The investigation centers on whether Roblox is deceiving parents regarding the safety of its platform, which markets itself as the number one gaming site for kids and teens.
The move comes as concerns mount over the dangers lurking within the platform’s digital ecosystem. Attorney General Wilson’s office is probing whether Roblox has engaged in unfair or deceptive practices under the South Carolina Unfair Trade Practices Act (SCUTPA).
