Spartanburg woman accused of stealing over $10,000 from vulnerable adult

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — A Spartanburg woman was arrested for allegedly stealing over $10,000 from an assisted living resident.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Cher Deneane Cantrell. The 58-year-old faces charges of exploitation of a vulnerable adult and breach of trust with fraudulent intent.

The Vulnerable Adults and Medicaid Provider Fraud unit (VAMPF) conducted an investigation that revealed Cantrell allegedly misused her authority as the power of attorney for a vulnerable adult. Between March 11, 2024, and July 24, 2024, the suspect reportedly misappropriated around $10,292.56 from the victim’s funds, diverting the money for her own benefit…
