DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — A Morgan County judge has pushed back the murder trial for a former Decatur police officer charged with murder.
On Thursday, Judge Charles Elliot approved a request by former Decatur Police Officer Mac Marquette’s attorneys to move back his trial date. The trial had been scheduled for January 26, 2026 but is now scheduled for June 8, 2026.

The request to continue the trial came after the Alabama Supreme Court approved a request for oral arguments in Marquette’s appeal over if he should have immunity in the 2023 killing of Stephen Perkins in Decatur.
