Despite initial claims, records show Prichard has gotten $9.1 million from internet sales tax

PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) – When city leaders here voted last week to join a legal fight over Alabama’s internet sales tax, Mayor Carletta Davis claimed the city has “not received any revenue” from the system.

Data from the Alabama Department of Revenue show Prichard has received more than $9.1 million since the Simplified Sellers Use Tax took effect nearly a decade ago.

“We are verifying exactly what that amount is,” Davis told FOX10 News…
