LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Sanibel is embarking on an initiative called Roots in Resilience. It’s a collaborative effort to revitalize the island’s natural beauty and strengthen its resilience for the future.
The effort is led by the city of Sanibel in partnership with the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, the Sanibel Natural Resources Department, and the Charitable Foundation of the Islands. The goal is to revitalize key corridors and public spaces across the island and to restore the natural beauty that defines Sanibel while strengthening its resilience for the future.
The first major project focuses on the Causeway Boulevard Corridor. Roots in Resilience aims to start by re-greening this gateway with native plantings to restore the lush, sub-tropical landscape Sanibel is known for.
Fundraising is now underway to launch this initial phase, with the goal of sustaining the effort well into the future and expanding restoration across the island’s corridors. Learn more about how you can get involved here…
