MassDOT announces ‘Name a Snowplow’ contest winners

BOSTON (WPRI) — The winners of this year’s “Name a Snowplow” contest by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) have been released.

This is the agency’s fifth year holding the contest. Every year, elementary and middle school students around the state are asked to submit names to MassDOT for its snowplows that will be used during winter.

Below are this year’s 12 winners:

  • Master Snowda: 4th grade class taught by Tabitha Shearer at Colrain Central School in Colrain
  • Frost Responder: 2nd grade class taught by Aimee Carvalho at Harris Brook Elementary School in Ludlow
  • You’re Killing Me Squalls: 4th grade class taught by Steve Vincent at Davis Hill Elementary in Holden
  • Flake Maye: 4th grade class taught by Jillian McCoy at Tyngsborough Elementary School in Tyngsborough
  • Darth Blader: 4th grade class taught by Amie Best at George R. Austin Intermediate School in Lakeville
  • K Pop Snow Hunter: 4th grade class taught by Leah Toomey at Saint Peter School in Cambridge
  • The Blizzard Boss: 5th grade class taught by Gina Wagner at Lanesborough Elementary School in Lanesborough
  • Thaw Patrol: 6th grade class taught by Kristin Carey at Gill Elementary School in Gill
  • Clearopathra: 8th grade class taught by M. Leone at Trotter Middle School in Southborough
  • Sleet Caroline: 5th grade class taught by Taylor Ross at Beverly Middle School in Beverly
  • Scrape Codder: 5th grade class taught by Mrs. Cree at Blessed Sacrament School in Walpole
  • Jon Bon Snowvi: 7th grade class taught by Ms. Alegbeleye in F. A. Day Middle School in Newton

All of the winners got a $100 gift card for school supplies…
