The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) launched Operation Catahoula Crunch, an immigration enforcement sweep, in New Orleans on Dec. 3.
Since the operation’s launch, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have been seen in New Orleans and surrounding areas, detaining individuals and conducting raids.
Residents of the city have begun pushing back against the deportation efforts by holding protests, protecting fellow members of the community who may be targeted, and even by means of a voodoo doll.
