Wisconsin man sentenced to seven years for wrong-way, high-speed drunken chase

ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – A 38-year-old Wisconsin man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for driving about 100 mph on the wrong side of a highway while intoxicated during a New Year’s Day pursuit.

According to court records, Andrew Brieske fled from deputies in Jefferson County around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025, and was pursued into Rock County. While traveling on State Highway 26, Brieske crested a hill and drove south in the northbound lane, nearly colliding head-on with a deputy who had to turn around to avoid the crash.

The pursuit ended when Brieske drove into a cornfield. Deputies performed a PIT maneuver and boxed in his vehicle. Authorities said Brieske attempted to ram his truck through squad cars but was unsuccessful and was taken into custody.
