North St. Louis tornado victim’s home days away from being demolished

ST. LOUIS — Alonzo Townsend, the son of late legendary blues musician Henry Townsend, is one of many north St. Louis residents still reeling from a devastating tornado on May 16.

Townsend’s home of 13 years on Woodview Court was declared uninhabitable after the storm, which blew in an oak tree and tore off the roof.

“I sat on the couch while the tree came through my house literally,” he recounted. I’m from north St. Louis. I’m a tornado victim. I lost my house in a tornado. I sat on the couch while the tree came through my house.”…
