Arkansas Board of Corrections makes name-change at Calico Rock unit

CALICO ROCK, Ark. – Officials with the Arkansas Board of Corrections said a unanimous vote on Dec. 19 led to the group changing the name of the prison at Calico Rock.

Officials said the North Central Unit is now named the Benny Magness Unit. Magness is retiring as board chair.

William “Dubs” Byers made the motion to change the name.
