ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A vacant building that has plagued a south city neighborhood for years caused major damage to a neighboring home during Thursday night’s strong winds.
Karen Mitchell’s home in the Marine Villa neighborhood was struck when part of the condemned building’s raised brick wall fell, leaving a hole in her roof and damaging her son’s bedroom ceiling.
“I heard the crash. I went to see what was going on. It sounded like bricks,” Mitchell said. “I went and checked. Checked through the windows. Upstairs. I figured upstairs stuff first, and then I finally saw it in my son’s room.”…
