Bowen Yang Bids Farewell to Saturday Night Live After Seven Seasons
New York, NY – After much speculation, comedian Bowen Yang officially confirmed his departure from the iconic sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live on Wednesday, December 20th. His exit comes a day after rumors began circulating that this past weekend’s episode would mark his final appearance.
Yang took to social media to share a heartfelt message regarding his time at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. “I loved working at SNL, and most of all I loved the people,” he wrote. “I was there at a time when many things in the world started to seem futile, but working at 30 rock taught me the value in showing up anyway when people make it worthwhile.”
He continued, expressing gratitude for his tenure: “I’m grateful for every minute of my time there. I learned about myself (bad with wigs).
I learned about others (generous, vulnerable, hot). I learned that human error can be nothing but correct.
I learned that comedy is mostly logistics and that it will usually fail until it doesn’t, which is the besssst. Thank you to every single person who showed up there: friends and coworkers and audiences and hosts.”
During his seven seasons on SNL, Yang garnered significant acclaim, receiving five Emmy nominations. These include one for writing in 2018 and four nominations for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025.
Fans can catch Yang in the new movie musical Wicked and its upcoming sequel, Wicked: For Good. Coincidentally, his Wicked co-star, Ariana Grande, served as guest host for his final SNL episode this past Saturday.
