Families in need in Moreno Valley will have a merry Christmas after all, after a toy drive that was in danger of being canceled due to a lack of donations was saved by do-gooders who stepped in.
The Unity in Christ Ministries initially had concerns it would have to cancel its annual toy drive after a large donation was canceled at the last minute. Three-hundred families were slated to receive a gift, but a major donor who signed up for the cause backed out just 24 hours before the event, the church said.
“Really, it’s not our fault that we didn’t meet the deadline but the person that was supposed to give us the toys didn’t come through,” Pastor Billy Davis said told NBC4. “But, it’s not their fault because they don’t get what they needed, either. We are pushing to see what we can do for the community.”…
