OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Oshtemo Township leaders are reassessing the road ahead for a planned fire station after a state funding cut pulled the plug on a grant worth $1 million. It was part of a larger claw-back by State House Republicans.
In a July meeting this year, the Osthemo Township board unanimously accepted a state Labor and Economic Opportunity grant that would have reimbursed costs associated with a new fire station. The plan revolves around replacing Station 1, which is currently attached to the township office. The building serves as the department’s headquarters, along with housing a crew for the northside of the township.
