Tennessee America 250 poster presented to Heritage and William Blount high schools

In just a few days, the nation will welcome a new year. In 2026, the United States will commemorate the 250th anniversary of its founding. As part of that observance, the Blount County Historical Museum has spent several years identifying Revolutionary War patriots who settled in Blount County.

Over the past year, the museum has expanded those efforts by reaching out to Blount County Schools to encourage greater emphasis on local and state history in classrooms while honoring the national anniversary. Tennessee will also mark its own milestone that year, celebrating 230 years of statehood.

As part of the Tennessee America 250 celebration, the state has produced a commemorative poster honoring the anniversary.
