WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating a deadly shooting in Northeast D.C. that took place Friday.
According to police, officers responded to reports of a shooting at 2:37 a.m. inside an apartment in the 1000 block of North Capitol St., NE.
There, 44-year-old Melvin Saunders was found suffering from a gunshot wound, unconscious and not breathing. After all lifesaving measures failed, he was pronounced dead by DC Fire and EMS.
