Nearly 45 critically missing children will now get to be in a safe place for the holidays – thanks to the U.S. Marshals-led Operation “Northern Lights,” the first of its kind in North Florida.
The Marshals Service was joined by members of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, Tallahassee Police Department, Florida Attorney General’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for a press conference at Tallahassee’s federal courthouse.
Greg Leljedal, Acting U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Florida, said “43 critically missing children across 14 counties in North Florida” had been found. The Marshals Service defines “critically missing” children as those at risk of crimes of violence or those with other elevated risk factors such as substance abuse, sexual exploitation, crime exposure or domestic violence…
