FOX CROSSING, Wis. (WFRV) – A Fox Crossing Police K9’s retirement was met with a fun-filled and heartfelt post as he turns to the next phase of his life.

The Fox Crossing Police Department honored long-time K9 Hans with a post on Facebook as he retires after what the agency joked was ’56 years.’
“Well, OK, in human years, it’s only been 8 years,” the post said. “Hans will soon start the ‘good life,’ no longer working the 12-hour night shift!”

K9 Hans’ retirement may be the end of his days as a member of the police, but it won’t be the end of his time with one officer, as his handler, Lieutenant Haag, plans to purchase him from the village.
The department says it has started the process to vill the vacancy…
