Rockwall County is gearing up for a major roadwork initiative aimed at improving its thoroughfares for the coming years. In a recent meeting held on Wednesday, the Rockwall County Commissioners Court made a unanimous decision to hire Freese and Nichols Inc., an engineering, planning, and consulting firm, to revamp the County Master Thoroughfare Plan. According to information released on the county’s official website, the project is funded by the Trip 21 road bond, which is expected to see its first issuance of $50 million in the early part of 2026.
Having the plan updated is considered critical for addressing the future growth and traffic concerns of the area.
