High winds may have been a factor in Augusta motorcyclist’s death, sheriff’s office says

The high winds Thursday are “believed to be a contributing factor” in the fatal motorcycle crash of a 53-year-old Augusta man, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Salvador J. Tovar Jr. died at the scene after being ejected from a 1998 Harley-Davidson. the sheriff’s office said.

The crash happened at 2:24 p.m. on SW Haverhill Road, just north of SW 50th. Tovar was northbound going around the curve in the road when the accident happened. The location is just south of El Dorado…
