Transfort Receives $4.8 Million From Federal Transit Administration for New Buses

Transfort, the public transportation operator for the City of Fort Collins, received a $4.8 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Low or No Emission Program – 5339(c) to replace aging Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses with new CNG buses.

The FTA classifies CNG buses as low-emission vehicles. CNG buses typically have significantly lower emissions of particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) than diesel buses and lower carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions on a per-mile basis.

“Transfort is thrilled to receive this award from the FTA to support the replacement of six of our aging CNG buses,” says Annabelle Phillips, assistant director of Transfort. “This investment strengthens our long-standing partnership with the FTA and directly contributes to building a more reliable, resilient fleet for our community.”…
