Man leads deputies on two chases in one night before crashing on Devine Street, authorities say

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A man is in custody after leading Richland County deputies on a chase twice on Friday night.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said the incident began around 10:10 p.m. in the area of Garners Ferry Road and Greenlawn Drive, when a deputy noticed a motorist driving recklessly, speeding, failing to maintain his lane, and running a red light.

However, when the deputy attempted a traffic stop, authorities said the suspect drove away at high speed, passing on the right and making other reckless evasive maneuvers. That chase ended when the deputy lost sight of the vehicle near West Beltline Boulevard and Farrow Road…
