BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Though it may be warmer soon, winter is only just beginning. As colder temperatures return and parents bundle up their children, SAFE Kids Alabama is reminding families about an important car seat safety rule.
The organization warns parents not to strap children into car seats while they’re wearing puffy coats.
Director Marie Crew says it’s a common mistake that many parents don’t realize could turn dangerous in a crash.
“That jacket will compress and that let’s the harness get looser and that will allow the child to either slide down or can even come out and even be ejected from the car seat,” Crew said…
