PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — You could probably guess which Portland bookstore is the most-searched nationwide, according to Google.
Earlier this month, the search engine unveiled Year in Search 2025: a look at the good, the bad and the ugly of internet browsing that dominated the web — from TV shows to food and drink recipes.

The tech company also revealed the bookstores that are most searched on Google Maps. Powell’s City of Books nabbed the top spot. The business on 1005 W Burnside St., which is described as “the world’s largest independent bookstore,” is a long-established tourist destination.
“Powell’s has always been more than a bookstore — it’s a place readers imagine long before they walk through the doors,” Powell’s Books Owner and President Emily Powell said in response to the ranking. “We don’t measure ourselves by lists, but this recognition reflects the magic our booksellers create for customers every day.”…
