“As soon as Halloween was done and put away, the Christmas music would begin playing. My mom was in charge of our playlist with her stacks of LP albums on our stereo. In the mix were Elvis, Ray Conniff, The Lennon Sisters, The Cazimeros and Barbra Streisand. I knew the order of each of the albums and waited for this song: “The Best Gift” by Barbra Streisand,” Kamauu said. “It’s still a favorite of mine, one that still gives the chills and all the warm feelings of the season at once. I’ve experienced the best gift twice.”
