AKRON, Ohio — Almost 1,000 people joined in on the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank’s 13th annual Selfless Elf 5K Saturday morning, according to a press release from the foodbank.

“In the aftermath of the recent government shutdown and delays to SNAP benefits, we’ve seen our community respond with remarkable generosity,” said Dan Flowers, the foodbank president and CEO, in the release. “We are incredibly thankful for the many individuals and organizations who have rallied behind our mission during this difficult period. At the same time, we know the need will continue as families work to regain their footing. Events like Selfless Elf and our Holiday Campaign reflect the impact we can make when we all work together.”…
