BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -12 years as the Saratoga County Sheriff came to a close for Mike Zurlo. Retired with 48 years in the field, the sheriff looks back on his time spent serving the community with pride.
“I love the passion. I love the people I work with. I love the residents of Saratoga County. I started my career in Mechanicville, born and raised there and moved down to the sheriff’s office and continued,” explained Sheriff Zurlo.
There were only 30 members in the department when Sheriff Zurlo started. He’s seen the job and Saratoga County change in many different ways. “Technology is the biggest thing. I mean, computers now. Back in the day, we’d have pen and paper with triple copies and you had to press down hard to do your reports and make sure it got down to the third page. And the growth of this county, almost up to 250,000 people.”…
