ESSEX, MD—Firefighters from across Baltimore County’s east side converged on a residential neighborhood in Essex on Sunday afternoon to battle a house fire and search for potential occupants.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. on December 21, emergency dispatchers sent crews to the unit block of Silver Avenue following reports of a structure fire with people possibly trapped inside. Firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes to find a 1-1/2 story single-family home with heavy flames visible from multiple sides of the building.
Crews from Essex Engine 7 and Engine 71 led the initial attack, beginning a rapid fire suppression effort while simultaneously searching the home for victims.
