CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Detectives are investigating a deadly crash near Uptown in Charlotte, officials say.
Around 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, officers responded to the 800 block of John Belk Freeway (Interstate 277). When they arrived, they saw a pedestrian unresponsive in the middle of the ramp to Kenilworth Avenue and a Chevrolet Traverse with damage to the front right fender and the front windshield.
The pedestrian, 79-year-old Wayne Raymond Cruse, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 50-year-old man, was not injured, officials said.
