MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Members of Temple Shalom gathered in Valor Park on Sunday just before dusk to light the menorah.
Traditional Jewish hymns were sung, and there was a brief message from Rabbi Aaron Sherman, reflecting on the meaning of Hanukkah and the importance of bringing light into the world.
“As we increase the light each night, so too we hope that the light in our lives increases, and so that we will bring light to others, bring light that there’s so much darkness in our world,” said Aaron Sherman, Rabbi at Temple Shalom. “We want to bring light into the world and be a light in the nations, to teach people to be kind to one another, to respect one another, and to appreciate what we have in life.”…
