Betty Reid Soskin, the beloved historian, musician and oldest U.S. park ranger until her 2022 retirement, died Sunday at her Richmond home, her family said. She was 104.
The longtime East Bay resident, who worked as a file clerk for the segregated union hall for Black shipyard workers, A-36, during World War II, died peacefully, “attended by family,” her family said in a Facebook post.
