A Summerfield man was arrested for DUI after admitting to having a couple mixed drinks prior to being stopped for speeding over 40 miles per hour.
Officers observed 38-year-old Sean Wesley Vanheusen speeding southbound on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 around 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. Radar confirmed he was going 91 mph in a 50-mph zone.
Due to this, the officers caught up to the vehicle and stopped it at the intersection with Berckman Street. They then spoke with Vanheusen, noticing his bloodshot glassy eyes and slurred speech. He agreed to participate in field sobriety exercises but had to use his vehicle for support when he got out of it, the report said.
He proceeded to sway while standing on the roadside and was unable to follow instructions. He also started several exercises before being told to do so. He asked that instructions be repeated numerous times and stated numerous times that he had to urinate, the report said…
