ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Overall quiet conditions end the weekend with a nice Sunday. High temperatures will be pleasant in the upper 40s to low 50s under increasing sunshine.
A dry cold front will pass through in the morning bringing some clouds overhead before clearing out by the afternoon. Behind the front, winds become breezy from the northwest with gusts around 20-25 mph at times throughout the day.
Cooler air follows the front as Monday morning lows fall into the 20s with afternoon highs only in the 40s as clouds begin to return.
The next chance for rain comes Monday night into Tuesday morning as a upper-level disturbance passes through. Passing showers will be possible with rain coverage on the lower side. As temperatures will be near freezing at the surface but warmer aloft, a brief period of light freezing rain may be possible for the Highlands.
High pressure moves back in Wednesday with dry weather as temperatures begin to trend warmer and above average. Highs will warm into the 60s for most on Christmas day with areas toward Southside close to 70 for the following day.
